Angler's Coffee is proud to team up with regional and national fly fishing artists to highlight the launch of our new range of Artist Series Coffees.

These special coffees are selected by our founder for their unique qualities, limited availability, and interesting stories.

Our inaugural launch of Artist Series Coffees features the art of renowned fly fishing artist Derek DeYoung.

Derek DeYoung was born on a bayou near the shores of Lake Michigan where his love of fishing was ignited.  Throughout his career, DeYoung has constantly pushed the limits by painting fish in beautiful and original ways.  "The experiences I have fly fishing keep me so inspired, there's not enough years in my life to complete all the paintings it puts in my mind."  Read more about DeYoung and our partnership here.

For every bag sold, $1 will go to Casting for Recovery, an organization that provides therapeutic fly fishing experiences for breast cancer survivors.

The Coffee: 

The Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm in Ethiopia has been owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012.  Ismael oversees a staff of 25 permanent full-time and 300 seasonal employees, and the farm management offers free transportation services as well as financial support for building schools and administration buildings for the community. The farm competes with a nearby mining village for seasonal workers, so Ismael and his family tend to pay higher wages to their pickers in order to incentivize them returning year after year.

Kayon Mountain farm has a nursery on-site and utilizes shade (acacia and other indigenous trees) to protect the coffee as well as for creating compost to fertilize naturally. Ismael is meticulous about not only the structure and management of the farm itself but also the harvesting and processing. 

Roast Level: Medium Dark
Region: Ethiopia
Tasting Notes:  Soft, sweet and delicate with tangy acidity, jasmine, bergamot and citrus fruit flavors.
Brewing Methods: While this coffee is versatile, we are loving it on our AeroPress Go Riverside Brewer.
